We don’t often get to feature a celebrity in Bunny News, at least not a human one anyway. In the past we have featured the likes of Benny, contender for world’s biggest rabbit and Jia Xiaoyu, the rabbit addicted to TV soaps.

Considering this, you can imagine how happy this rabbit insurance comparison site was to come across this star-studded story.

According to the Sun, Leona Lewis has managed to rescue a bunny from near death. Whilst shopping in Melrose in LA, the celebrity stumbled across a homeless man with a rabbit on a lead.

Confused no doubt by the fact the rabbit was on a lead she asked the homeless man what he planned to do with the rabbit. “Don’t know”, he replied, “probably eat it.”

Shocked by this brutality vegetarian Leona Lewis offered the man $100 in return for the bunny which he willingly accepted.

The rabbit now lives with her in LA where she is currently based and has been named Melrose after the street on which it was found.

According to a close friend: “She didn’t think life on a lead was any way for a rabbit to live – then when he said he was going to eat it she knew she had to save it.”
